Al Hooks, a Eureka Springs photo-artist, came to Arkansas after one of the most horrific natural disasters in history. His studio and home were located on historic Scenic Drive on the Gulf Coast in the sleepy picturesque community of Pass Christian, Mississippi. The eye of hurricane Katrina passed directly over his home and studio leaving nothing.

After spending his childhood in the French Quarter during those early years he was exposed to many creative and inspirational art forms. This was the beginning of his love of art and photography. Al studied photography in New Orleans and New York City and used his talent to establish his own successful advertising agencies and photography studios in New York and New Orleans.

Al lives and works in his home/studio in downtown Eureka Springs, with his two dearly loved energetic yellow Labs, Bud and Storm. He is available to work on commission.
