Cary Jenkins, Little Rock
Cary is a student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock studying for a bachelor's degree in studio art with an emphasis in photography. She also works full time at the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, is married and has two teen-age daughters. She began taking photos of her children with a 2nd or 3rd hand minolta, entered them in local county fairs and was encouraged when she won several first place and best of shows. Having gone back to school to get a degree and study photography, her kids are still her favorite subject. She also enjoys photographing Arkansas' people, landscapes and architecture. Her work has been shown in the UALR Art galleries, in the Arkansas Community Arts Cooperative Art Shows and in The Democrat-Gazette Art Show held bi-annually at Cantrell Gallery. She received a purchase award for the 2007 Arkansas Arts Council's Small Works on Paper which tours the state and her work is currently on exhibit at PhotoSpiva in Joplin, Mo.
