Cecilia is a native Arkansan who has had a love for art since childhood. She began dabbling in oils after moving to Conway, painting with Ann Davis of Conway and Barbara Bates of Little Rock. Eventually the art endeavor was placed on hold to concentrate on a growing family (3 boys). After the sons were raised, it was Cecilia's opportunity to go back to art. She began with soft pastels, studying with Suzy Patton at The Mansion in Little Rock, and now of Sarasota, Fl.
Upon the close of The Mansion in Little Rock, Sloat and several others organized an artists co-op (The Art Group) on Maumelle Blvd, where she is a Charter Member. At this location, Sloat studied with Patrick Cunningham of CA and Little Rock, in the varied techniques of the Old Masters.

Sloat retired in 2006 from Conway School District and enjoys painting daily. She is a member of the Conway League of Artists and Artists of Northwest Arkansas.
