ARTIST E-MAIL:
Johnce L. Parrish, Glenwood
My first love is the human form. I started as a figure painter then as a sculptor and fine wood carver always seeking form and shape and contrast. When I was introduced to YUPO a watercolor technique I found unpredictability, which translates, to me as possibilities. Linking this with my painting and drawing background I began my journey. I think of myself as a communicator so I attempt to engage the viewer through imagination and familiarity to allow them to take ownership of the experience. It's like the process of watching clouds what you see is your own discovery. I want my art to be a cornucopia of possibilities for the viewer. My first memories as a child were to be an artist. My journey has been to discover what that means . I have realized for myself in order to be successful is about process. I've tried many different disciplines formally and randomly, with success and failure. When I started teaching I realized I had an elitist attitude both in success and my failures. My art has taught me about communication, which requires honesty. Which makes me a seeker. By developing skillfulness and honesty makes me an artist. So my art is process not product .
