Michelle Posey, Little Rock
Michelle is a reformed writer who realized that photographs told a better story than words. Her work focuses on storytelling or evoking emotions. For a decade and a half, Michelle worked in newspapers, including two of Arkansas' largest daily newspapers. She is now a mother as well as a wedding and portrait photographer. She and her husband are expecting their second child in November 2008.Michelle enjoys nature, from the garden to the wilderness, and much of her favorite work reflects this. She also loves people, their different cultures and lifestyles. Her style is documentary and photojournalistic, capturing unscripted moments that tell a story about the event and the people in the photographs.In 2005, Michelle made a self-financed trip to Uganda, Africa, where she was able to photograph the nonprofit work of a number of groups, including the Arkansas-based organization Heifer Project International. While there, her focus was on capturing photos of people going about their daily lives, triumphing over their circumstances, and improving their future.Michelle has a degree in journalism with an emphasis in photojournalism from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a member of the National Press Photographers Association and the Wedding Photojournalist Association.
