Seth Bailey, Little Rock

Capturing the unique beauty of Arkansas, and combining it with the long, and equally beautiful tradition of impressionism: this is the trademark style of Little Rock born, Seth Daniel Bailey. Three main forces have played vital roles in Seth's artistic development: mentors, locations, and lifestyle. Seth's father, Don, was a prominent ceramics artist of the late sixties and early seventies. Because of this, he grew up learning to see life through the eyes of an artist. Seth was raised in rural Arkansas where he became acquainted with the state's grandeur and subtleties. Seth studied at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he was the recipient of numerous awards in student competitions. It is in Arkansas where Seth learned the lifestyle of a cowboy. This eventually took him out west to work on ranches for a few years. In Colorado he met new and glorious scenes of creation that have come to greatly influence his style. He then went on to study under Barry Thomas who expanded his knowledge of color and design. At the same time that he was studying under Barry, he was also taking tips from another artist, Darrel Berry. Darrel helped Seth perfect his draftsmanship and the line quality of his paintings.

Seth and his wife Cassandra, and his son, Seth the 2nd, now reside in the country outside of West Little Rock on his ranch where he paints full time. Along with painting, Seth teaches a few private lessons. His love of teaching came from teaching studio art at Catholic High School. Seth loves teaching others the skill of painting and spending time with his family and his horses. He paints to show people the beautiful state of Arkansas through an artist eyes, showing an impression of this wonderful states scenery.
