Suzi Dennis, Hot Springs

Suzi Dennis is a self-taught, working artist who works out of her studio and gallery at her home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. What intrigues her is the spontaneity of using whatever works to arrive at the finished product. Her process begins with her "painted papers" which are pieces of paper that she creates by "painting" on them. This process does not always involve paint. She may "paint" with fabric, thread, crayons, pencils, her own handmade paper, yarns, wax, oils, acrylics, watercolors - the list is endless. She then sews these pieces together and begins the image working on top of and “through” her painted papers. Suzi states, “The wonderful thing about what I do, is that it can’t be duplicated. I can’t even duplicate it, so each piece remains unique.” Her inspiration comes from life, a montage of sights and emotions that touch the human spirit. Her motto "ART TO MATCH YOUR HEART, NOT YOUR COUCH" says it all. "The images are given to me and come from my heart to yours."
She has exhibited in local and national exhibits through the years and won several awards with her creations. She travels from April through December participating in art shows throughout the U.S. Locally she is represented by Blue Moon Gallery in Hot Springs and Cox Creative Center in Little Rock.
